Just read: Cast Drawing Using the Sight-Size Approach
Just finished re-reading a Cast Drawing book by Darren Rousar. The author attended Atelier Lack, where I currently study. Great advice, easy read, and I saw a nice jump in my cast progress after reading.

Large gum drops
I love how these turned out--I'm actually bummed to let them go. The large gum drops were a commission and based on a much smaller painting. I worked through these with about five sessions of painting. It was a little more difficult than I had planned since the set-up was dependent on daylight and we now have a lot less of it here in Minnesota. Very happy with this painting!

Letters to a Young Artist
I absolutely loved this book. I picked it up at the library but plan to pick up a copy of my own, probably on amazon. There was a lot of encouragement and basic advice. As a young artist, this definitely spoke to a lot of the struggles I have--ranging from dealing with the nay-sayers, struggling to find a creative voice and how to begin building a career in art. The short segments made it a quick and easy read. For those of you who dream of a career as a full-time artist, check it out!
