Large gum drops

I love how these turned out--I'm actually bummed to let them go. The large gum drops were a commission and based on a much smaller painting. I worked through these with about five sessions of painting. It was a little more difficult than I had planned since the set-up was dependent on daylight and we now have a lot less of it here in Minnesota. Very happy with this painting!

Plein air

I've been having a painter friend of mine, Melody Phaneuf, critique my paintings. Here is what she said about this one:

"Get some Rembrant Sevres blue for your skies. It will brighten and give you more warm/cool variation. Do you have any Monets at your local Art museum? Look at how he interweaves the paint and plays on the complementaries to emulate the essence of sunlight."
